SMOKING

Smoking – A Preventable Scourge
Smoking is an addiction to nicotine found in tobacco. It’s one of the leading causes of preventable diseases worldwide. Smoking harms almost every organ in the body.
⚠️ Health effects
Tobacco causes cancers (lung, throat, mouth…), heart disease, chronic bronchitis and increases the risk of stroke.
👨👩👧👦 And what about others?
Second-hand smoke is also harmful. Inhaling others’ smoke can lead to the same diseases, especially in children.
🛑 Why quit?
Quitting smoking improves health rapidly: reduced blood pressure, better breathing, and decreased cancer risk.
✅ Help and prevention
Support exists: nicotine replacement therapies, psychological support, and public awareness campaigns in schools and media.
