🇬🇧 Hydration: why seniors need to drink more often

As we age, the feeling of thirst decreases. Many seniors believe they drink enough while they are already dehydrated. Poor hydration can cause fatigue, cramps, constipation, headaches and even falls.

Why it matters:

  • Kidneys filter less efficiently
  • The body retains less water
  • Some medications increase water loss
  • Hot climates increase dehydration risk

How to stay hydrated:

  • Drink regularly, even without thirst
  • Prefer water, herbal teas, broths
  • Avoid sugary drinks
  • Check urine color (light yellow = good)
