Introduction
Sickle cell disease is one of the most common genetic diseases in the Caribbean, especially among populations of African descent. This chronic disease can significantly affect the quality of life and requires lifelong medical follow-up.

WHAT IS SICKLE CELL  DISEASE?
It is a genetic disease where the red blood cells take on an abnormal "sickle" shape. This leads to poor oxygen circulation and blockages in blood vessels.

 

.WHO IS AFFECTED ?
This disease mainly affects people of African, Caribbean, or Indian origin. It is transmitted when both parents are carriers of the gene.
